I wonder if cheese, in this case, is a proxy for "not eating a low-fat diet"? Since low-fat eating usually (but not necessarily) involves eating more "low fat" sugary, processed items, seed oils, and refined carbs, than a higher fat diet would. Again, on average, not to say you can't eat a healthy low-fat diet. Just that many people tend to avoid fat almost as a reflex, without understanding that some of the alternatives are much worse for them.
