If it has anything like a TPM on it, the questions about trust in the microsystem which controls and gates access to the TPM won&#x27;t go away, by installing a different OS on top of it.<p>Not that it can&#x27;t be a really good design, Just that the politics of risk around this device are no different.<p>TBH, They&#x27;re no different for a Mac, or a Lenovo, or any of a number of devices. It&#x27;s just that the specific manufacturer at hand has been held up as a problem, for two reasons: governance of the board, and risk of state control of the device. Governance of the board doesn&#x27;t play here. State actor risk to the device does.<p>I doubt five-eyes will want people to adopt this unit for use inside secured communications.
