Strange how this subject comes up in different contexts.<p>In many cases doing this on an online platform with voting mechanisms doesn’t work well. It works better on HN than Reddit but can still get you flagged even if you are right and provide evidence. The distinguishing factor is the given subject and the emotional connections of the various commentary.<p>I have also lost out of a job interview for describing this as a means of mentorship and conflict resolution.<p>It does feel good to call out bullshit in the real world though just as the article describes, though my teenage children have tried this and failed miserably because their pride is larger than their education. In the real world it seems stupidity is not isolated to children.<p>In summary this is potentially a minefield on both sides of a conversation.
