I've been looking at PowerBI the last few months, watching videos to see how people are using it, and am rolling out some simple dashboards for healthcare government agency.
As background, I'm coming more from a business/finance background but can do some simple coding (R, Python) and am familiar with some of the software development principals - git etc..
Take a look at this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cr9UBeZ3AvQ - which is adding some functionality to a PowerBI dashboard.
Problems I see:
- Maintainability of this report/code will be near impossible. There is estially code hidden everywhere in the file.
- A new maintainer coming in will have absolutely zero idea how complicated this report is with out diving deep down into each field/measure.
From what I have picked up over the years, and reading HN, this is the perfect example of how PowerBI is going to become a nightmare. How do people not see this?
Honestly, PowerBI is one of the worst pieces of software I have seen the more I have looked at it.
