Hi HNers,
I'm Tanin and have built Superintendent.app which enables you to load (large) CSV files and write SQL on them. You can export the output back and/or make charts.
There are 2 problems working with CSVs using Excel:
1. Excel and Google Sheets have row/cell limits. When a CSV exceeds the row limit, you are kinda stuck. There are some workarounds (e.g. connecting Excel to Data Source), but they are difficult to setup.
2. Excel formula is also clumsy to use; this is especially for people already know SQL.
I'd claim that Excel formula is probably harder to master than SQL.
Superintendent.app is built, so I can work with CSV files more smoothly in my day job.
I'd love for you to try it and give me feedback. I hope this will be useful to you as it has been for me.
Thank you!
