Note that this comparison, a rather common and popular one, confounds <i>wealth</i> (market capitalisation) with <i>income</i> (GDP).<p>A country with a GDP equivalent to the <i>market capitalisation</i> of a major multinational company all but certainly has a <i>total national wealth</i> (or capital) far in excess of that of the company.<p>Though the point is made that these corporations are gigantic and have massive influence.
