Fellow natives should be able to propose changes. Some symbol choices will never be consensual but some are clearly a mistake[1]. I believe many Portuguese don't even know the presented monument. I'm familiar with individual states within the U.S. having state-recognized dishes, fruits, flowers, etc; but I've never thought of the country having them. Interesting.
