We're in the attention economy. We've been A/B testing stealing people away from things they ought to be focusing on. Which is family and friends, not through social media, but through the telephone.

This article seems to be conflating morality with paying attention to people in need.<p>I would call that “generosity”, perhaps. But when I see the word “moral” I think of things like:<p>* keeping one’s promises<p>* being honest<p>* being fair in one’s dealings<p>And I don’t see how Facebook or social media in general can affect that.<p>In my mind, if someone needs encouragement to act moral, then that person is not truly moral.
