My work requires working with different types of automation systems, mostly with building automation systems but also industrial. What are some good - and preferably free - resources to learn fundamentals as well as more advanced stuff?
Are there any specific topics you would like to learn? (e.g. PLC programming, Machine Vision, IoT, HMI development, ...)<p>Also is your goal to learn enough to get a job?
Here are some online resources available at no charge:<p><i>Engineering Manual of Automatic Control for Commercial Buildings</i> (Honeywell, 1997)<p>Inch-Pound Edition: <a href="https://customer.honeywell.com/resources/techlit/TechLitDocuments/77-0000s/77-e1100.pdf" rel="nofollow">https://customer.honeywell.com/resources/techlit/TechLitDocu...</a><p>SI Edition: <a href="https://customer.honeywell.com/resources/techlit/TechLitDocuments/77-0000s/77-1200.pdf" rel="nofollow">https://customer.honeywell.com/resources/techlit/TechLitDocu...</a><p><i>Feedback Systems: An Introduction for Scientists and Engineers</i><p><a href="https://fbswiki.org/wiki/index.php/Feedback_Systems:_An_Introduction_for_Scientists_and_Engineers" rel="nofollow">https://fbswiki.org/wiki/index.php/Feedback_Systems:_An_Intr...</a><p><i>Instrumentation and Control</i> (U.S. Department of Energy)<p><a href="https://sites.ntc.doe.gov/partners/tr/Training%20Textbooks/Forms/AllItems.aspx?RootFolder=%2Fpartners%2Ftr%2FTraining%20Textbooks%2F05%2DInstrumentation%20and%20Control" rel="nofollow">https://sites.ntc.doe.gov/partners/tr/Training%20Textbooks/F...</a><p>(This is part of a series for nuclear plant operators, but the basic principles are equally applicable in many other fields.)
