The “Sci-Hub effect” can almost double the citations of research articles

Who would have thought that granting more people to have access to research would lend itself to creating even more research? Almost as if closed platforms and gatekeepers of information limit the amount of people who can be part of the community absent an elite few.

You know why they get cited? Because people can actually read them. It's not uncommon to skip an article in a review because Sciencedirect is down / you re working from home / the article is in an obscure old journal etc. Time is always limited, and scihub speeds up that process by an infinite amount
