It would run with one in the system, or two; but if it had two they both had to be "functional." so when one failed (with a fan problem forex), this expensive server with redundant PSU <i>shut itself down</i> rather than yaknow, <i>use</i> that spare PSU it was perfectly happy doing. "Yes we have redundant power circuits.. no it doesn't actually help"<p>Sun gear didn't step on itself like that, at least. Their stuff would keep running even as the flames consumed the VRMs.
