I don’t have any research experience in this field but there is a stray cat that I feed quite regularly. The poor thing seemed have injured her left leg and was limping quite a bit, so when I saw her she began limping away from me and hid herself in some bushes too thick for me to go in. This continued for a few days but I left some food for her every day.
Anyway I believe that was a form of PTSD reaction ,as she was very well aware of who I am. My guess was some person had caused the limp on her (considering she lives in a public park where I go to run, and many people visit as well). She is normally very friendly and doesn’t mind the occasional petting, though she is very much an independent cat (not one who can be easily domesticated).
Though the PTSD manifested in her in a different way than it would for a human.
