I think they will become valuable adjuncts for systematic debugging and auto adapting routines to the new task with oversight from experienced programmers - might eliminate some of the shit job aspects already highlighted.
I certainly <i>hope</i> so. Programming is a shit job, and shit jobs should be done by robots, not people. People deserve better than to spend their adult lives working shit jobs.
