I always get funny looks from HR when I opt out of coverage on this stuff.<p>Not participating in dentistry has proven to be quite uneventful for me. Maybe I have special unicorn mouth genetics. Perhaps some untold horrors are brewing in my teeth somewhere - but I don't want to subject myself to 20+ x-rays on a quarterly basis just so they can confirm everything is OK and bill the fuck out of my insurance each time.<p>I feel like a lot of our health care system is propped up on an ambience of fear and lack of autonomy over one's self. When you can bill UHC $[large sum] every time someone steps foot into your office, you may be compelled to insert little half truths into their head to keep them a recurring customer.
