I referenced this issue in a previous post about how we should all stop using wood burners:
https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=29592450
Energy prices have gone up so much already this year. We've just had a bill for electricity 1 1/2 months [just moved to a new property] which was higher than we used to pay in a quarter for electricity and gas combined. And that was even with us being very frugal: Hot water heater on timer for only 1 hr in the morning. No other electric heating used.
We've now taken to placing a load of kettles on top of the wood burner and filling various thermos flasks from these at night and leaving them in the bathroom to wash with in the morning. If it wasn't for our wood burner [which is great but only heats one room in the house] we'd literally be living in a freezing house over the winter and washing in cold water.
Amazing how, every time there's a green initiative, or some other campaign to make the world a better place, it always ends up with poorer people being shafted.

I posted this for its relation to https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=29634173. For a country whose energy is mostly not-nuclear, based on the average household income for 2020/21 the average individual will be spending ~7% of their income just on energy.
