Hello,
I am software developer living in a third world country, specifically in Nairobi, Kenya. I have passed a number of technical interviews without having to struggle so much which makes me believe I am a competent developer. My primary development languages are C/C++ and Python. It is quite possible I am highly skilled in these.
The problem is the lack of opportunities in these lands might be slowly killing my career. Since participating in GSoC in 2014 and 2016, I have not worked on any major project. The projects available through freelancing platforms like Upwork are generally very low quality and most of the clients are terrible.
I would like to know how any of you guys would cope with a situation like this? How do I open myself up to more opportunities? Tips and tricks that I might not have already figured out by now.
