I love this, I wish we had better tools to figure out what happens chemically to the blueberry mush on geological timescales.
Also..:
> One might wonder if this kind of exploration is worthwhile. I believe it is: this is both a pedagogical and amusing way of applying standard planetary science modelling to a system. Given how exotic exoplanets have turned out, the physics of blueberry earth is actually fairly normal compared to much that is out there.
Woe is me. Born too late to sail the uncharted oceans, born too early to explore blueberry earth.

There is room for a followup paper on experiments to detect blueberry exoplanets; if only to put an upper bound on the probability of planets spontaneously turning to jam, which fruit they consist of, and if they are spread across the universe.
It could also open up new physics, since it would mean that the law of conservation of mass is displaced by a jarring mass of conserve.

Bonus points for being on top of (topping?) a story about pancakes.

Anders Sandberg, the author, was heavily involved with the orionsarm.com project (hard science-fiction worldbuilding). It was a big, big influence on my youth in the early 2000's, at the age of 17, while I went through a deep exploration of futurism and what could be possible in my lifetime.
This is where I learned of things like Dyson Spheres, which, sure enough, referenced one "Dyson Sphere FAQ" written by Sandberg himself.
https://orionsarm.com/eg-article/4845fbe091a18
http://www.aleph.se/Nada/dysonFAQ.html

Reminds me just a bit of the old XKCD "What If" question, "What if you gathered a mole (unit of measurement) of moles (small furry critter) in one place?" https://what-if.xkcd.com/4/

Everyone would eventually turn blue and there would be less race pressure and conflict.

> Unfortunately [Physics Stackexchange] tends to frown on fun what-if questions like this, so it was in my opinion prematurely closed while I was working out the answer. So here it is, with some extra extensions and corrections.
Raspberries for the Stack Overflow mods. But thanks to this paper we can find our thrill on blueberry hill.
