I spent some time in Pontevedra Spain a few years ago, a city that has to a large extent gotten rid of cars. With some minor issues mostly around commercial traffic for goods and businesses, people overwhelmingly seemed to agree that it was a success. Business was up, local stores, restaurants and so on were doing much better, people were moving to the place again, and so on.<p>I hope more cities in Europe start similar initiatives, we have the good fortune that our cities are older than the car.
