To protect against military actions vs Russia, certainly. To keep his throne, it comes down to what those actually in charge of the button will do and the repair state of the gadgets. It also comes down to whether you view his actions as rational re Ukraine.<p>Perhaps another kind of gas is of concern, if those weapons and mopp gear remain?

The nuclear button i would be more worried about Putin pushing is the gas to europe button.
