This kind of work is a major step. The big disadvantage of a graph database is arbitrary graph modeling of data/shoehorning data into a graph model, and an inability to derive information that isn’t itself a graph.
I'm sure there's got to be more to it than this. The intro was too obviously mapable to a relational database using foreign keys and associative tables. Look forward to a post getting deeper into EdgeQL.
A document database that has an inter-document linking mechanism is basically a property graph database.<p>It comes down to the query language at that point.
