After a decade of working on Machine Learning and Computer Vision (first in academia and then in start ups), I am getting bored of it (burn out?)
I am playing with the idea of pivoting to game development but I know I’d miss my salary if starting again in a junior position.
Has anyone successfully moved between the two domains? Is there a specific role where my background can be useful in games industry?
Without any real experience in either field myself I would guess your main USP would be applying the skills you have in developing AI behavior and maybe natural environment generation? Not sure what the other overlapping areas can be.
Isn't it easier to do some hobby game development first, before making the switch?
