It's teaching us how to work for free in pleasing their profit.<p>Most sites now have been totally gamified to the point where they initially give you great exposure and community and then slowly dial it down once an addiction has formed. It's utterly destructive to the self esteem of man, including children.<p>There are always ways of manipulating the algorithms, most of the methods involve bots and dark content, and many black markets thrive on these platforms mysteriously, only seeing intervention when a news report exposes the incidents.<p>There are many sites that completely lift content off of original creators without any compensation or credit as well, as these companies make massive profit, they pay most of the original creators of the content they display little to nothing, and often nothing.<p>There would be a huge backlash against these platforms if everyone wasn't so caught up and invested in the rigged carnival booths, but the idea of Internet viral stardom has a death grip on so many now that they are even committing self harm, disinformation, and even racial hate for likes, and actually getting promoted for it all by shadowed sponsors.<p>I generally log in to find funny things occasionally and to promote my business, otherwise a walk in the park is far more enjoyable and less stressful.
