Where can I find a good tribe / community for myself?

4 点作者 questionmania将近 3 年前
I love technology, I care about myself and others, mentally, physically and spiritually. Invested in growth on every life vertical, I do sports, I meditate, I read a lot, I made sure I have proper financial education, I try to properly take care of my kids knowing all subtle things that can influence them, etc. Basically I am pretty self aware and I care about improving my life and others' as much as I can. And I very actively do something about it, not just care.
But I find myself in the capital of an European country, with not that many that share same interests, most, of course share just a few, or understand the utility of just few of them, etc. Few have a real drive for living, even if they have money. Most of those who do just party hard, seek validation, etc. The other few that share ambition to grow or do interesting things, are burnt out or depressed.
I plan to take my family this summer and move somewhere where I can encounter on a daily basis people that share same values and what I consider a healthy approach on life. But I don't know how can I find a place - city, community, island - that meets my needs.
Any clue?

You're complaining about something I'd consider an upside, as opposed to a downside. Instead of some weird, one-stop-shop hivemind, you're going to need to piecemeal out your interactions with likeminded people and in this quest, you're going to be introduced to things you would have never sought out, which will also enhance and add to your life.
You can go to church or spirituality gatherings and talk with people who are into that stuff. Then you can go find a group of people who like the same physical activities as you, and so on.

> Invested in growth on every life vertical
> most, of course share just a few, or understand the utility of just few of them
It seems like you’ve drawn yourself into a solipsistic corner where you think you’re invested in all the good things and all the other people navigating their lives of equal richness are only skating by on some of them.
Since you seem open at the moment, and invested in self-growth more generally, I’d suggest taking a humble step back and reflecting on whether this as true as you seem to think it is.
More likely than what you write here, you’re invested in some specific subset of the countless worthwhile ways to devote attention and have become aware that every single other person is invested in some different subset that only partially overlaps.
But that’s just sort of inevitable, right? You might be able to find the “tribe” you’re longing for with fresh and forgiving eyes in a new city, but it’s not going to be so much about the place as it will be about you being willing to accept more difference after moving than you seem to be at home.

I've thought about the same thing for a long time, and recently decided to start a monthly MeetUp community around some of the values I enjoy (tech, friendships, exploration/adventure, learning new things, etc). You can try that, at least you'll attract some like minded people, and as organiser can also set the tone.
