Can't find any raspberry pi zero w's in stock, or any normal pi's for that matter. Looking for similar or compatible alternatives for a small low power toy project. Any ideas?
I had the same question a couple of months ago and got recommended the Orange Pi line of devices. For my usage it is virtually identical to a similar specd Rasberry Pi. Most of the models can run Armbian[0] which provides some peace of mind regarding long term support. The brand seems to sell mostly on Aliexpress, which is where I got mine from.
[0] https://www.armbian.com/download/?device_support=Supported
Odroid at hardkernal, I like the XU4 that at $53 will run full Linux distros and has A15 and A7 CPUs at 2 GHz, 2GB DDR3, Mali T-628 GPU, USB 3.0 and Gb Ethernet.
Hard to believe you get all that for $53, you wouldn't have to go back that many years to be in a place where you would have been happy to pay $2k for something like that.
While there check out their odroid go for 80 bucks, it's a ready to go gaming platform similar to Nintendo switch.
I have no affiliation with Odroid whatsoever, I just like their products.
