Too bad I couldn't go this year :'( I went to 2017 and I had booked for 2021 which was cancelled due to COVID. But this year it clashed with other commitments.
But very glad to see it succeeding.
Ps: The event can probably be described as DefCon with a second interest point of the maker community, to which it has been targeted more in the later years. Originally it was purely about security, it's been run since the 90s. The event is outdoor with most participants staying in tents.
Normally it happens every 4 years except this one which is an odd one out due to Corona. Each time the event gets a different name and 3 letter acronym, one of which is Hack, Hacker, Hacking etc.
Previous events were HAL2001 (Hackers at large and the design was inspired by the space suits from the movie). And What The Hack in I believe 2009. And these are just some examples, there were many others. SHA2017 (Still Hacking Anyway) was my favourite. It was such a success that they reused the same field again, this has never happened before. And they're right because it's an amazing location by the water, you can even arrive by boat!
Usually these events have amazing energy and collaboration. I really miss not being able to go this time.
