Instead, some explain that they see the ‘sensible’ dimension as not related to being intuitively risk averse, but feeling responsible for a worrying, uncertain future...
Jennifer explains

that they are:hyper-aware of the world as it is and the problems with climate change and the political climate in the world creating pressure on us to be doing our best to be making the world a better place, rather than just like living for the moment and having fun...almost like a scared generation, or a generation who feel the pressure to be not looking out only for ourselves but to be like doing the best we can do for everybody else.

Hard to go out and experience things when you have no money left after rent and food. Like really, how long are previous generations going to carry on like we actually want to live like this? I would love to have a house and start a family and go on holidays and have a fast car, but guess what, when I’m paying most of my money to a 57 year old who owns 6 houses I don’t have much left for life experiences.
Sorry this comment is not very constructive, I’m just tired of seeing this type of garbage journalism in every mainstream paper in my country and elsewhere.

From my conversations with my teenagers it's the fact that everything and anything they do that's "risky" will be instantly logged and amplified to their friends and peers. They're afraid to do things because everyone is watching them, always.
In previous generations you could get away with a lot without many people knowing much less your school administration, college admissions officers, or your employers.
Now it's all permanently recorded and searchable.

“Generation broke” risk missing out on life experiences like having a family or owning a home.

There is a risk that many young people feels that they personally need to fix the world, when it only can be done by political and economic leaders.
The message that the most contaminant industries are sending is "You are personally at fault for all pollution" when the reality is that most pollution is created out of our direct capability of influence.
I have seen an increase of people sending the message: you can improve the world thru political action. You are not responsible for the world but you can put people in power to fix the environment and keep them accountable. That is way more healthy than to think that one can fix all the world problems by oneself.

Times change. The life experiences of our grandparents and beyond have been vastly different than ours. It will be the same for future generations.

Life experiences don't matter when you are in survival mode. This generation gap is unbelievable.

Isn't it the whole point of being sensible to "miss out" on certain life experiences?
