Biden says haters won't have 'last word'; wants to end social media immunity

It&#x27;s sad to see Section 230- which protects <i>all</i> websites &amp; grants them the basic escape of liability for the bad things their users post- be manipulated &amp; lied about by both major parties. Both sides are deranged &amp; out of touch.<p>Sad scoring of political points by meddling with one of the only laws on the books that has allowed any measure of freedom of speech whatsoever on the internet. It&#x27;s a hotbutton issue, but pointing at big tech &amp; saying you&#x27;re going to do something (but actually you&#x27;re bashing America in the face) is no classier than wrecking the social safety net over &quot;welfare queens&quot;: another way to titillate &amp; excite, to make low &amp; cowardly arguments about the very worst, but ignore the 99.9999% of use. This is such an issue of the day, but screwing with 230 is not where we need to go. And god damn is it so fragging tacky &amp; cheap.

But, since this <i>is</i> coincidence, the situation may well be reversed in the next speech Biden gives on hate.
