The show runners sound deluded from what I'm reading, or even dishonest. You can't say you love something and then try to change it and adapt it for "modern audiences". That just means you didn't like it to begin with, otherwise you don't touch it. They're telling their own story under an existing and beloved franchise's name, and yelling at people who point out the disconnect.<p>Either make a new IP, or stick to the spirit of the writings of the author (or why buy it?!). Instead they pretend to care about the source, while changing it drastically (way more than P. Jackson btw, this show has a different foundation and overall philosophy). It really seems they bought it for its marketability ONLY, and to hell with those that disagree with the changes.
