The Tilde Text Editor

My favourite console text editor on Linux. On the console, without X!<p>Either of those alone would be enough, but both together is a killer combination.

I&#x27;m not the target audience (long-time emacs user, occasional vi user just for the heck of it), but this seems like a nice idea. On the few occasions I have used nano, I found the keyboard shortcuts very inconvenient. If I had no prior experience with any text-mode editors, I&#x27;d most likely prefer Tilde to the available alternatives.<p>I never tried ee, though, so I have no idea how it compares or if anyone uses it.

Cool project. Looks just like the editor I grew up with in MS DOS. These days I&#x27;m invested in Vim. I guess the choice boils down to &quot;how much do you write&quot; and even more down to &quot;how much do you edit&quot;.

I have it installed and it&#x27;s nice, but not better enough to make me leave familiar old nano or mcedit. Maybe it will gradually replace nano as new users choose it.

This is nice. I&#x27;ve been using micro for years, but I think I&#x27;ll give tilde a shot. I love the msdos aesthetic.
