A united Arabia was never on the cards in the post Ottoman era - British and French imperial interests would never allow it. Consequent efforts to unify the arab nations created by British / French have also been thwarted, not in the interests of the West to see Arab unity

Seeing what happens now under self rule I’m not too sure it was such a great idea.

Self rule is never &quot;given&quot; it is taken. If it was European powers that had bestowed them independence I dare say it would not be independence at all.<p>And look at Saudi Arabia today: they are standing up to Biden. Things worked out for them quite well.
