Depending on amateurs reviewing art does not scale. I do this scaling professionally, only relying on professionals, relying only on festival viewers (and certainly not audience festivals, but the best professional ones), and doing proper statistics to punish one-time viewers and outliers. This system cannot be gamed.<p>You only see the discrepance between US and World critics, the US being similar to the IMDb-India phenomenon, 2 pts too high on average, overly excited fans. And you see the phenomenon of first-town infighting amongst the professionals. Paris, New York, Vienna, London, Berlin critics usually have extreme standard deviations when fighting each others opinions. It would be best to exclude them, esp. the french ones. But with proper statistical measures they will be excluded automatically.
