I don't think you get a pass for treating people badly because of your hysteria. It's easy to be a good member of society in good times. It's when there is adversity that we are tested. Same as if someone yelled "fire" and you freaked out and pushed others out of the way to get outside first, you should have to live with your behavior, not just get to say "well, I thought there was a fire" and be forgiven. Hopefully people can take this as a lesson to try and keep there humanity when times get tough, but they should have to live with their behavior.
