Unreal Engine could probably take over the entire industry if they had a small team dedicated to low-/mid-range games, including 2D games. Improve everything from the developer experience to binary size and runtime performance.<p>They made a really smart move several years ago in putting everything on GitHub and making it free to get started, but all their tooling is still heavily geared towards AAA (and maybe "AA") development. They've been incredibly successful at taking over that sector, but they're still leaving opportunities on the table.
