Unreal Engine could probably take over the entire industry if they had a small team dedicated to low-/mid-range games, including 2D games. Improve everything from the developer experience to binary size and runtime performance.
They made a really smart move several years ago in putting everything on GitHub and making it free to get started, but all their tooling is still heavily geared towards AAA (and maybe "AA") development. They've been incredibly successful at taking over that sector, but they're still leaving opportunities on the table.

I'd like to also see what percentage of TV shows, films, commercials, etc. will be made in Unreal as well. At the rate the tech is expanding, pretty soon any media could be created in it.

Unfortunately not very reassuring for multiplayer fans considering the engine, out of the box, provides heavily unreliable defaults leading to poor gameplay results.
I am no longer surprised when I play something based on Unreal tech and it doesn't play well over networks.
Considering the available pool of skilled multiplayer developers, it's not a great sign for the industry.

Seems like clear market dominance, which is concerning. An unscrupulous company could start to increasingly leverage this in five years or so.

How does Unreal compare to Unity in broad terms?
