I did a bit of comping a few years ago (all online, no more than minutes worth of time per week).
I won: a case of wine, a garden hose, tickets to a play, tickets to a concert, tickets to a book festival event (from the Guardian, in fact).
you’ll find “buy to win” offers online and instore
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may not have to buy anything for a chance to win: https://gleam.io/guides/no-purchase-necessary
Darn it, I thought this would be pulling back the curtain on jazz guitarists and pianists!
I am not a comper as described in the article, but during the pandemic I've saved a lot of money on all sorts of household items/toiletries by using up the travel-size freebies I'd amassed over the years.
Is this a specifically Australia+UK thing?
Here in the US you don't really see these kinds of promotions much. By law (in most/all states?) you're not required to make a purchase to enter any corporate prize drawing. So I wonder if businesses mainly don't bother then?
