The terms of carriage are great. You acknowledge that there might be fuck all medical care. You acknowledge that if you miss the boat, tough shit. You acknowledge that all legal disputes will be settled in the Bahamas.
It's like renting a very expensive apartment, but with seasickness, and even less rights.

Well, that was an advertorial considerably duller than what I had hoped for.
It's interesting to note that there are trans national sea nomads [1] that have increasingly had the same kinds of settler pressures experienced by other nomads and gypsies.
[1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sama-Bajau
From the edges of West PNG [2]
[2] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdqUrjU8Cu0

I was expecting it to be artist residences on cargo ships like http://www.containerartistresidency01.org/about/
This is way more dystopian though. Cool.

You're locked in a shopping mall subject to Bahamas law with an HOA on steroids and on top of it all you may encounter pirates or sink, assuming the operator doesn't go bankrupt first.
Plus your house has to be docked or dry docked for long periods of time for maintenance and you have to share "your" vessel with hundreds of other people.
You could buy one hell of a yacht in your own jurisdiction for what they're asking.

I looked into MS The World nearly a decade ago. Back then they would only consider you if you had a net worth of at least $10mm.
I was on their mailing list for a while, and every month they would have a new cabin for sale, complete with PDF brochure including a floor plan for the deck it was on.
You could rent a cabin for a short stay if you wanted. I forget how much the yearly dues were if you owned a residence.

There are few things on this planet that I despise more than cruise ships. Be it the small Italian coastal towns, the beautiful fjords in Norway, tropical islands, wherever they go, it's like a swarm of locusts completely overwhelming those places. We once were in Norway at a Fjord and there was a cruise ship taking a tour. The Fjord was filled to the top with smoke from the f*%#ng ship's chimney.
