I forgot where I read this.. but there is a key difference between people who hack a v0 of a product and people who maintain and manage v1+.<p>My reading is that Geohotz is a v0 kind of hacker. He can build things fast and without him, there might not be a v1. However, people coming after him do have to clean up and maintain the code for all the other normal folks. I am not sure if a v0 person coming in to clean up an existing set of systems is a great idea. They generally do not do well in a constrained situation and their instinct would be to throw everything out and start from scratch.
