Show HN: Price My Spotify Library

49 点作者 devrob超过 2 年前
Hi HN, I built this tool to estimate how much it would cost to purchase all the music in a user's Spotify library and individual playlists. Kind of interesting, maybe you'll like it too

Nice idea, though this doesn’t seem to be doing more than multiplying the song count by $0.99. With a simple UI and lookups to an actual song catalog for prices, this could be a neat tool.

I get it, I want to get off the public cloud too. But as someone with a pretty random and shallow taste in music, I also appreciate how Spotify broadens my horizon by suggesting other, similar songs with similar attributes but slight variations. That helps me eventually discovering genres or styles that I like. I think there's a lot of value in that for a lot of people. Maybe Spotify could be one of the good guys.

I'm gonna check this out when I'm back at my PC.
Sorry it didn't get more traction, it's a great idea.
I think it would be cool to extend it to provide links and maybe like price shopping, if there's any serious consideration to actually buy the libraries.

The concept is interesting, thanks for sharing. I suggest that in future iterations/versions, it could take the duration of the tracks into account: a two-minute track certainly doesn't cost as much as a track that is almost three hours long (extreme example, I know, but album-length tracks are not that uncommon).[1]
[1]: https://open.spotify.com/track/6jfQOSSQImYlyxeSAi6jh7?si=375...
