Big banks have their hands in everything, no matter how clean or how illicit.
When you literally have nearly 3.4 trillion USD in assets, you're going to spread them as wide as your bankers can get you to spread them. Sometimes this will involve some less-than-ethical actors. Sometimes it will involve legitimate charities or endowments.
No matter what, though, the big bank won't actually get punished for its actions. It's too big to fail, so it's too big to jail, much less actually do anything besides slap it on the wrist. The paid-off politicians made sure of that long ago.
All that said, while it might be hard to track where each dollar of that 3.4 trillion USD is, Jamie Dimon makes 35 million USD a year and just had a 10% raise. If you're making that much money, you should be competent enough to put a team together that can figure out where each dollar actually goes.
