If you're an individual or a small company, what business structure (e.g. sole proprietorship, LLC, etc.) did you pick when you created your business and why?
I started my tech conference as a California LLC. I chose an LLC because it was the simplest option that allowed me to get all the proper permits/licenses and tax benefits. I used LegalZoom for this, which was easy, but I hated how much they tried to upsell me for every little thing.
[1] https://outland.sh
My stealth startup is a Delaware corp because it’s the simplest option that allows me to distribute equity. I used Clerky for this, but I hear that Stripe Atlas is also good.
In general, stick with a sole proprietorship until you are blocked by licenses/permits/funding/etc or insanely profitable.
