New Reddit API terms effectively bans all use for training AI models

Reddit has updated their terms of use for their data API. I know this is a popular tool in the machine learning research community, and the new API unfortunately impacts this sort of usage.<p>Here are the new terms: <a href="https:&#x2F;&#x2F;www.redditinc.com&#x2F;policies&#x2F;data-api-terms" rel="nofollow">https:&#x2F;&#x2F;www.redditinc.com&#x2F;policies&#x2F;data-api-terms</a> . Section 2.4 now specifically calls out machine learning as an unapproved usage unless you get the permission of each individual user. The previous version of this clause read:<p>&#x27; You will comply with any requirements or restrictions imposed on usage of User Content by their respective owners, which may include &quot;all rights reserved&quot; notices, Creative Commons licenses or other terms and conditions that may be agreed upon between you and the owners.&#x27;
