> "Same policy applies to all accounts. No special treatment for NPR."
He means no special good treatment. Special bad treatment is gratis
BTW. Since this is a tech bro. Are there examples of tech bros who communicated _more personally_ about passionate topics for _really obviously_ good results?
Really curious, because every time Musk takes a passionate cause in a more personally-oriented direction, it feels like those are the moments when he needs to retake Comms 101 or address something really fundamental about what he's trying to accomplish.

lol, there are dormant accounts on Twitter going back at least a decade. NPR doesn't tweet for two weeks and now it's "no special treatment?" What a clown.
I hope NPR does start tweeting again. One tweet a week, solely containing links to other sites where you can find their content. Make Elon do even more tortured public gymnastics to come up with an excuse to punish them.

I locked myself out of an old Twitter account over 6 years ago because I had it keyed to a yahoo.com email address I had long since forgotten about (and forgotten the password of), yet it's still listed as active. Musk seems to be taking this very personally.

Larry Ellison hasn't tweeted in over 10 years: https://twitter.com/larryellison
No special treatment...

I think NPR should follow the lead of another three letter organization and slowly tweet - with one letter per tweet and one tweet per day - W H A T H A P P E N...

Elon is like that guy who got drunk and was thrown out of a bar. And then he buys the bar and fires the bouncer. And then a Nazi biker gang starts cooking meth in the back room. But he won't hire back the bouncer who threw him out so he says he likes Nazi bikers and anyone who doesn't is censoring. And the normies no longer come to the bar, so he 10Xs the prices for groups who used to use the back room until the Nazi bikers started cooking meth there, and they don't come anymore. And none of this is the bar owner's fault, and Calacanis, Sacks, and Andreesen who still drink there wonder why people can't distinguish them from the Nazi bikers because they are nothing alike.

> "NPR isn't tagged as government-funded anymore, so what's the beef?" - Elon Musk
As if he didn't start this. This whole thing reads as highly manipulative to drum up... checks article... one twitter handles worth of business. It's probably actually more than this, because I bet NPR pulls an audience with it, but this is probably more likely to backfire and end with more people/orgs following NPR's lead.

I want them every week to post and delete the same tweet:
"This tweet is here to show our account is active and in use, as we've received a threatening letter from Twitter CEO Elon Musk that our account will be deleted, unless we tweet frequently."

This feels like a can of worms that Elon Musk doesn't want to open. (He might still open it, but I think it's a bad idea).
NPR could make this difficult if he's gonna get pedantic, and simply retweet the time once every 30 days, or something really baseline dumb like this. Is that what he's hoping to change? This is a weird beef to be picking too with NPR.
Also, would the next group that takes it still get the state-affiliated media label? That feels concerning.
