Show HN: Shortwave.ai Email Bots – Send an email. Get a helpful response

4 点作者 vikrum大约 2 年前
Hello HN!
I'm excited to introduce you to Shortwave's latest project: Shortwave.AI email bots. These bots operate whether you’re a Shortwave user or not, with no signup required. All you need to do is send an email and you'll receive a helpful response in return. Here's a rundown of each bot:
tldr@shortwave.ai: This bot is great for anyone who needs to quickly digest emails or long links. Simply forward an email thread, a link (including YouTube), or even a lengthy newsletter, and receive a 'too long; didn't read' summary. This is particularly handy when browsing on your phone. Using your phone's share functionality, you can easily email the link to tldr@shortwave.ai for a concise summary. If the email has a link in the subject or the beginning of the email body, it’ll generate a summary for content at that link instead (captchas, paywalls, and the link excluded). Currently, it supports html, pdf, and YouTube links.
cal@shortwave.ai: This bot is designed to help you not miss important events buried in email. It's perfect for those emails that don’t come with a handy calendar invite attached. Simply forward your emails about soccer games, birthday parties, hackathons, etc, to this bot, and receive a list of events along with “Add To Google Calendar” links. The bot will parse out all the details from the text and generate event links to easily add it to your Google Calendar.
Just for HN: another email bot we’ve been kicking around is one where the prompt is embedded directly into the user name. You can make your own in the format: +${prompt with underscores}@shortwave.ai This will be used as the prompt and the email/whole thread as the context. These are useful once they’re in your contacts and you aren’t typing them out every time. A couple examples: +definition_etymology_synonyms_antonyms_and_example_usage@shortwave.ai - Then use either the subject or body of the email with the word you’re interested in. +translate_to_spanish@shortwave.ai - Forward an email/thread to get it translated.
You can try out these bots today by simply sending an email to either of the addresses above. We're eager to hear about your experiences! As always, we appreciate your support and look forward to hearing your thoughts.

I tried +create_ascii_art@shortwave.ai, sent the word "Elephant" in the body, and got back:
/\_/\
( o.o )
> ^ <
__..--''``---....___ _..._ __
/// //_.-' .-/"; `.`-.<` \\\ \\
///_.-' _..--.'_ \ \ \ \ \\\//
/ (_..-' // (< _ ;_..__\_\ / \\
/ // // // `-._,_)' // /___\`-. \\
`-' `-' `-..___.-' /_ /_/\_\`-' `
That's ascii art, but... questionably an elephant
