<i>>We should work less because it allows us to be better humans.</i><p>This seems like a false dichotomy. If your work is a net positive for humanity, then doing more of it makes you a better human (up to a point of diminishing returns). Maybe the problem isn't the number of hours we work, but rather the type of work and projects that we choose to spend our time on.<p>The other issue here is one of meaning. Many people derive meaning in life from their work. It wouldn't make sense to tell an artist who loves what they do to cut back on their work hours. Meaning is mentioned in the first paragraph, but is never addressed in relation to the argument about morality.
