Hopefully it should bring down the prices and improve availability. But, I believe many enthusiasts who were interested in the raspberry pi have moved to alternatives like lepotato and other pi variants due to unavailability and high prices even from authorized resellers.<p>If your primary use case for a pi is running a low powered server and can't wait, I think an NUC style minipc is a good alternative at marginally higher price(when you consider the cost of pi & its accessories required for comparable setup). For a slight increase in power consumption, you get a capable x86 cpu with more supported software and you can also upgrade later. I have one sitting at 10W idle.<p>If you requirements are strictly low power then a pi might be the better choice if you can wait.
