I was trying to articulate this the other day to a direct report and wondered if HN had some thoughts
I think the dimensions are/could be defined as:
- Time/Years (the most objective, but least accurate imho),
- Density/Intensity (i.e 10 years in a fast paced company is different to 10 years at a slow company),
- Variety (how many different things you've done, just development with X framework, or multiple frameworks)
- Depth (how deep did you go, eg making features with simple APIs vs making contributions to the framework)
What do you think? Are there more dimensions? Fewer? Different? Thoughts very welcome!
Domain expertise and effectively delivering business value the only metrics that really matter, unless we only care about tech people arguing about tech stuff.
