I've made my first ShowHN post and was excited to get some feedback about what I am building (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36283179). But after posting it, it got zero engagement. I thought that sucked... but then when trying to find the same post I realized that it was never made public. I can see it from my account, but it is not visible if I check from my friend's account. Do these posts go through manual approval?
My guess it that is got killed because it sounds like an advertisement. A better format would be "Hi, I am x. I have built a devtool for y. I build it because the current tools sucks at z. The one feature I like the most in my tool is q."<p>After reading your pitch I am still not sure what technologies and audience your devtool are for and what problem it tries to solve.
