This assumes that “not alive” implies “not intelligent”, and thus “intelligent” implies “alive”. I don’t think we’ve seen enough different intelligences to even pose that as a hypothesis.<p>(Note: I’m not claiming they are intelligent, but IMO modern models certainly blur the lines. I think they aren’t intelligent because they cannot have original thoughts, but then, what counts as an original thought? Can good interpolations or extrapolations be discriminated from original thoughts? And how do you prove that any single human can have original thoughts?)
