Once, long long ago, I purchased some wrapping paper, as I do when the opportunity presents itself. I currently have 3 rolls of it: one has a "winter snow" motif, one has sort of a wedding motif as polka-dotted silver paper, and the third is a solid gold glitter paper.
This week, I was sending my father a nice birthday present, and it was going to be really easy to wrap: it's just a baseball jersey folded and wrapped in plastic. No problem. So I got out the gold glitter wrapping paper, and I cut a suitable oblong from the roll, and then I folded it over and taped it... and the tape didn't stick!
I panicked and realized that the texture of the paper was completely wrong and no tape I owned would ever stick to it. So I would up using big strips of packing tape and then bundling it up in an ugly blue ribbon just so it would stay together during shipping. I crammed it in the box and sealed it shut before the package could burst apart again, which I'm sure it has by now.
I can't imagine what would compel someone to manufacture glittery-textured wrapping paper that can't be taped shut, but that definitely happened. It was probably from the dollar store. I guess I'll experiment a little to see if I can figure out how to seal it. White glue, perhaps?
