Both serious answers and jokes are welcome. How do you deal with a failed coding test interview? Hard to not reflect/dwell on my career experience so far.
I've looked at and done a great many coding interview questions. Lots of them are quite bad, in that the candidate has to have a flash of intuition to solve them. Very few development jobs require frequent flashes of intuition.<p>That is, coding tests don't give interviewers what they need to see if someone can write code, and they often don't test anything but the most trivial coding skills.<p>Don't feel bad for yourself. These tests are terrible.
You likely invested time into preparing for the interview. It’s natural to feel kind bummed if you didn’t get an offer. Just shake it off and try to move on to the next one. I was on the verge of an anxiety attack during one of my more recent interviews. I actually ended it early because I couldn’t find my bearings. It was extremely embarrassing and it took time to get over. I found a good gig soon after though. Good luck to you!
I usually give the interviewers a brief assessment of what they did wrong in the interview and how it cost them the opportunity to bring in a skilled, insightful, and flexible employee.
