As a SAAS founder, do you find it hard to get customers to buy annual or long-term subscriptions?
I have something for you.
Even though annual subscriptions come at a lower monthly cost, most customers do not opt for them as they are not 100% sure if they would need the service, say 6 months later. I am building a tool which allows SAAS companies to allow their customers to sell their unused months or points to a new customer.
How does it help the SAAS business?
- Allowing the option to transfer the unused months - makes it more convincing to the consumer to take up the longer-term plan.
- If at a future date, the customer does not need the service any more, he looks for a replacement customer ( new or existing) and sells him the months or credits, maybe at a discount. This leads to a new customer who values the service and might actually extend the service beyond the months he acquires.
- Selling more annual/long-term plans gives you more money upfront to invest in your company.
How does it work?
- The platform is blockchain-based.
- When someone buys an annual package, under the hood - we issue them 12 tokens, one for each month.
- On consuming a month of service, a token gets burnt.
- The tokens are transferable. If at a point, the customer wants to stop using the service - he can transfer his remaining tokens to another account ( new or existing customer )and ask them to pay at a discounted rate. It's a win-win for everyone.
- Since it's on a public blockchain - the validity and history of the tokens are transparent and can be easily verified.
- The tokens and blockchain part are under-the-hood. There will be a simple interface to verify and transfer unused months or credits.
Is this something that you think will be useful to you for your SAAS product?
Any feedback/questions ?
